Well, you see what you want to see, I guess. I saw 500,000 creative, passionate people who gave up a great summer weekend to say NO! to a for-profit war in Iraq, NO! to homophobic Jim Crow, NO! to a bungled fight against al Qaeda, and NO! to criminalizing abortion.
I saw 500,000 people who will protest whoever is in office. This are anti-establishmentarians (or something like that) who want to keep the third world from having indoor plumbing. What a joke...
Jim Crow?!? I guess they make Powell and Condi sit in the back of the room at cabinet meetings.
I saw some passionate people. I saw some creative people. I saw a lot of angry people. I saw some drugged out people there just to party. I saw lots of hopelessly deluded people who have absolutely no grasp of history or current events. And I saw people who screamed, flew into rages, dig Nazi salutes and, literally, spat on the folks who DARED to disagree.
Hilarious. The left says No! to war but Yes! to murdering their own babies. How dare the Rupublicans free a country from tryanny while trying to keep us from killing our babies. THEY'RE SO EVIL
that's funny don, because when i was there on saturday, i saw some passionate people on a lot of drugs whose argument against the (self-funded) (self-organized) counter protestors was "you're nothing but a secret republican operative." wow, way to have a real argument.
actually, that was one of the least venomous statements of the day. i particularly enjoyed when the commentary dwindled down to "you're ugly." yes, lots of peace and love in those passionate protestors.
let's not forget that passionate people are exactly the ones who have created totalitarian states in this world and who have killed/are killing uncountable numbers of people for their causes. so, you know, it might be a good idea to qualify that value.
Really nice job. Great pics, and excellent work providing captions for all of them. You gave us a nice idea of what was going on in the streets, and we didn't even have to get spit on by anyone to see it. I hopw you'll be there the next few days too. Thank you for your efforts.
That was me! As y'all were winding down your "Take a SHOWER! Take a SHOWER!" chant, I leaned over the barricases and taunted:
"We're prettier than you are, nyah nyah nyah..."
Not one of my more mature moments, I will admit, but what the hell.
After all, y'all were there for one reason---to pick a fight, to provoke peaceful people. When you failed (which is hardly new, loser) you got all pissy.
Besides, I was right...we ARE a lot better looking than you.
